Native of Northeastern US. Have worked, studied and lived in East Asia and the UK. Traveled through and spent time in regions of southern and northern Eastern Europe, coastal West Africa, and Southeast Asia. Research and interest in area studies encompassing social, political, cultural as well as language and arts. Post graduate work represented by the achievement of a Masters degree in Chinese Studies from University of London, SOAS. Study and research has focused on language, identity issues within developing modern states, as well as the impact locally of economic modernization on society and community, expressed in works on local, ethnic and national narratives, and histories.
